Two devices, two kinds of light

When clients ask about LED light therapy at Vearitea, the conversation usually turns to the equipment. We use two devices for LED work, and they are not interchangeable. The Perfectio X delivers red and infrared light together with gentle surface warmth. The Sapphire X delivers blue light at 415 nm. Each covers a different part of the spectrum, and each is commonly used for a different cosmetic purpose.

This guide walks through both. We cover what each device does, what each is commonly used for, what a session with each one feels like, and what the phrase FDA-cleared Class II means in plain language. Our aim is to help you walk in knowing what to expect. Results vary from person to person, and we would rather say that at the start.

Perfectio X: red and infrared light with warmth

The Perfectio X combines two wavelengths in one head. Red light sits in the visible range and is absorbed at the surface of the skin and just beneath it. Infrared light is invisible to the eye and travels a little deeper. The device also warms the skin where it makes contact. The warmth is mild, closer to a warm towel than to a heat treatment, and it is part of how the device is designed to be used.

In cosmetic settings, red and infrared light are commonly used in routines aimed at the look of fine lines, uneven tone, dullness and skin that feels less firm than it once did. What a course of sessions does for the look of one person's skin is a separate question, and the honest answer is that it varies. Many clients notice a brighter, smoother look in the days after a session. Some notice less.

We reach for the Perfectio X most often. It is the device at the center of our LED Skin Tightening Facial, and for many clients it is a typical starting point.

Sapphire X: blue light at 415 nm

The Sapphire X is a narrower tool. It emits blue light at 415 nm, a wavelength that stays at the very surface of the skin. The light is visible, and clients often describe it as a soft blue glow seen through closed eyes and protective eyewear.

Blue light at this wavelength is commonly used in routines for blemish-prone skin. Some small studies have looked at blue light and blemish-prone skin. Their designs and results vary, so we describe this as a common cosmetic use rather than a settled result.

One limit is worth stating plainly. If you are dealing with persistent or cystic acne, a dermatologist is the right first step. A blue light facial is a cosmetic service, and it is not a substitute for a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Our acne facial page describes how we approach blemish-prone skin as a whole.

What FDA-cleared Class II means, and what it does not

Both the Perfectio X and the Sapphire X are FDA-cleared Class II devices. That phrase appears on many spa websites, and it is often read as a promise about results. It is not.

Clearance means the manufacturer submitted the device to the FDA and showed that it is substantially equivalent to a device already on the market for the same intended use. Class II is a category that places the device under general and special controls, which relate to how it is made, labeled and sold. All of this is about the device. The clearance covers the equipment, not any cosmetic result you might see from using it.

We mention clearance because it tells you the equipment meets a standard and is used within the settings its maker specifies. We do not mention it as a shortcut for saying the facial works. Those are two different claims, and only the first one is ours to make.

What a Perfectio X session feels like

A Perfectio X session happens inside our 60-minute LED facial, which is $250 and listed on our LED light therapy page. The light phase typically comes after cleansing and a light exfoliation, so the skin is clear and the light reaches it evenly.

You wear protective eyewear. The head of the device is moved over the face in slow, overlapping passes, one area at a time. The first thing most clients notice is the warmth. It builds gently where the device touches and fades as it moves on. Under the eyewear you may see a faint red glow. There is no sting, no pressure beyond light contact, and almost no sound. Many clients relax deeply, and a few fall asleep.

Afterward, the skin may look slightly flushed for a short while. That tends to settle within the hour. We finish with a serum and moisturizer, and you can go straight back to your day. There is usually no downtime, which is one reason clients at Hulen Mall in Fort Worth book this facial on a lunch break.

What a Sapphire X session feels like

A Sapphire X session follows the same preparation. Most clients find the Sapphire X pass very mild. Any warmth is gentle, and the light itself does not sting. What you notice is the glow, a soft blue through the eyewear, and the slow rhythm of the passes.

We work the blue light over the areas where blemishes tend to appear, which for many people means the forehead, nose, chin and jawline. The passes are unhurried. Some clients describe this as the quietest part of the hour.

A few clients notice mild tightness or dryness the next day; a simple moisturizer usually settles it.

Choosing one device, or both

We decide at the start of each session, not before it. The hour begins with a look at your skin under good light and a short conversation about what you have noticed and what you would like to change. In broad terms, the Perfectio X suits the look of fine lines, tone and firmness, and the Sapphire X suits blemish-prone skin. That is a starting point, not a rule. Skin is rarely one thing, and a jawline with breakouts beside dry cheeks may call for a Sapphire X pass in one area and a Perfectio X pass over the rest. Both devices are part of the same 60-minute facial, so choosing one does not mean giving up the other, and the plan can change from one visit to the next.

Neither device is a one-visit answer. Light seems to act on skin gradually, and much of the research that reports a change used a series of sessions over several weeks. A series of four to six sessions, spaced one to two weeks apart, is a typical starting point. Our facial packages bring the per-session cost to between $267 and $275 and include daily products for home. Our Revolutionary Pro red-light bed is a separate full-body session; the FAQ below explains the difference.

Before you book

Our LED services are cosmetic services, not medical care. If you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or similar implant, have cold urticaria, have an active skin infection, or have had recent surgery, talk with your physician before booking. The same applies if you take medications or use topicals that raise sensitivity to light, or if you have a history of light-sensitive skin conditions.

If something on your skin has changed, is painful or worries you, a dermatologist or physician is the right first step, and we will say so when you arrive. For everything else, we are glad to talk through which device suits your skin and set expectations honestly before the light goes on.

Questions about this guide

Is the Perfectio X the same as a red light bed?

No. The Perfectio X is used on the face and neck and combines red and infrared light with gentle surface warmth. Our Revolutionary Pro bed is a 30-minute full-body red-light session with none of the facial steps. Some clients use both, for different reasons.

Does the Sapphire X hurt or feel hot?

In our experience the session is comfortable. Any warmth is mild and the light itself does not sting. Most clients notice only a soft blue glow through the eyewear. Sensations and results vary.

Does FDA-cleared mean I will see results?

No. Clearance covers the device and its intended use, not any cosmetic outcome. Many clients notice a brighter, calmer look after a series of sessions, and results vary from person to person.

Treatments at Vearitea Wellness Spa are cosmetic and wellness services, not medical care, and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Results vary from person to person. If you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, cold urticaria, an active skin infection, or have had recent surgery, talk to your physician before booking.
